There is always something happening in Ionia. Our community is proud to host a wide variety of annual events that bring neighbors together and welcome visitors. Whether you’re celebrating the seasons, honoring tradition, or just looking for something fun to do on the weekend, Ionia has something going on.
Ionia Freek Fair: Aug. 28-29

This summer, the Ionia Freak Fair will take place at the Ionia Fairgrounds, located at 317 S. Dexter Street, on Aug. 28–29. The sold-out music festival, headlined by local bluegrass star Billy Strings, is expected to bring thousands of visitors to the community throughout the weekend.
In preparation for the event, the City of Ionia and local partners are working together to accommodate the increased number of visitors and ensure a safe, welcoming experience for everyone attending. As part of these efforts, the City is reviewing and updating campground-related regulations and guidelines.
Please check back for updates and additional information, including temporary campgrounds and hosting visitors on private property during the event weekend.
